This is the most time intensive and therefore the most expensive type of custom longarm quilting. With Heirloom quilting the design possibilities are unlimited. This style of quilting can utilize all of the same elements of mid level custom quilting but with greater density. This includes extensive stitch in the ditch, heavy connecting designs, echoing around applique, cross hatching, exciting background fills and Micro quilting, which is beautiful in its rightful place. Custom longarm heirloom quilting can have a wide price range depending on the complexity in the quilting design, the density of the quilting and therefore how much time it will take to execute the design. But the results.... well, absolutely stunning. Plan on spending at least 10 cents per square inch for this level of quilting.
As far as "how" your quilt is quilted we can go with free motion quilting, or with robotics which would entail utilizing digitized quilting designs. There is a wide array to choose from, and they are jaw dropping gorgeous and available in "collections" such as those shown on the following websites:
On this beautiful wallhanging I quilted the background with a technique called “Nemeshing”. I stitched in the ditch around all the appliqué and treble clefs in the center.
This is the finished quilt. It measures 70”x70”. It has been quilted to death :-).
I am happy to donate this beautiful quilt to HANDDS to the Rescue as their 2020 Raffle Quilt. This quilt will pay a lot of vet bills and buy a lot of kibble.
This little 36" x 36" quilt is very heavily quilted. But oh what a stunning result. The hardest part of this quilt was deciding on my quilting plan.
This is the Judy Niemeyer Desert Sky quilt. An intricate little quilt at 48" x 54". Totally free motion quilted.
This is one of my favorite pieces. Although small (36"x24") it is packed with quilting.
There are 2 versions of this quilt shown in these pictures. What's the same in both versions is that EVERY flower, pot, bird, tool, etc was outlined
this beautiful wallhanging measures 47" x 47". It took a whopping 15 hours to quilt. Most of that time was spent in quilting the intricate crosshatch fill in the outer border and center medallion.
This beautiful wholecloth quilt was hand embroidered by my customer. I then added the quilting to showcase and enhance the embroidery.
These panels are absolutely gorgeous. They measure about 42" square. A perfect size for a wallhanging, table topper, or even a baby quilt for a very special baby (but then again... all babies are special :-).
